Steve Atkinson has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Steve started their career in 2002 as the Managing Director of Atlare Pty Ltd. Steve then worked as a Project Officer for Business Improvement at Main Roads Western Australia from 2006 to 2008. From 2008 to 2009, they held the positions of Technical Support and Development Manager, and later Operations Manager - Technical Development, at RAC.
In 2009, Atkinson joined Water Corporation as the Water Efficiency Initiatives Manager, leading a team responsible for managing water efficiency plans for non-residential customers. Steve also took on acting roles such as Manager of Water Efficiency Projects and Acting Remuneration and Employee Relations Manager. From 2012 to 2015, Atkinson worked as a Sessional Lecturer at Curtin University and as the Acting HR Service Centre Manager and Acting Manager of Water Efficiency Projects at Water Corporation.
In 2014, they became the Innovation Process Manager at RAC WA. From 2015 to present, Atkinson has been employed at Main Roads Western Australia, where they serve as the Principal Analyst Strategic Planning, responsible for providing updates on strategic direction and managing an internal Innovation & Research Program. Additionally, since 2019, Atkinson has assumed the role of Chair for the PATREC Research Advisory Committee at the Planning and Transport Research Centre.
Steve Atkinson obtained a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Curtin University between 1992 and 1996. Steve then attended Curtin University again from 2004 to 2005, where they completed a Masters of Business Administration. In 2005, Steve also studied Norwegian Language and Literature at Folkuniversitet for one year. Later, they pursued a Masters of Business Leadership at Curtin University from 2006 to 2009.
