Karen Brems

Karen Brems is an accomplished engineering manager with extensive experience in leading software development teams across various industries. Currently serving as a Senior Engineering Manager at Mainspring Energy, Karen focuses on advancing cloud software solutions for a sustainable energy future. Previous roles include Senior Engineering Manager at Rivian, where Karen spearheaded the development of a cloud-based Connectivity Management Platform, and at VMware, where management of a distributed team focused on IoT SaaS solutions was key. With a solid background as a Software Architect at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Labs, as well as a Senior Software Engineer at Intuit, Karen has expertise in software system design and integration. Additionally, Karen has a unique history in competitive cycling, having been a Professional Cyclist and a member of the 2000 US Olympic Cycling Team. Karen holds a Master of Science in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
