Melanie B. Young

Melanie B. Young is a seasoned professional in traffic engineering and transportation operations with extensive experience spanning several decades. Currently serving as Senior Project Manager at Maldonado-Burkett, LLP since August 2014, Melanie manages a range of public and private traffic engineering contracts, conducts traffic engineering studies, develops TSMO plans and ITS master plans, and designs plans specifications and estimates (PS&E) for traffic signals and roadway lighting. Prior to this role, Melanie worked at TxDOT from January 1985 to April 2014 as a Transportation Operations Engineer, overseeing design, construction, maintenance, and operations for traffic signals and ITS across seven counties, among various responsibilities including the development of region-specific signing and striping standards. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University, earned between 1980 and 1984.
