Barbara DeGray, RN-BC, CRRN has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Beginning in 1986, they served as a Program Director for the Arthritis Foundation in both the Washington, D.C. and South Florida areas. In 1988, Barbara worked as a Patient Care Coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Association, where they reviewed patient charts and acted as a liaison between referral sources and VNA staff. From 1991 to 1995, they held the role of Director of Medical Management, Managed Care at Executive Risk Consultants. Barbara then served as the Director of Managed Care Services at Vincam Occupational Health Systems from 1995 to 1999, where they were responsible for oversight, development, and quality improvement of managed care services for workers' compensation. Following this role, Barbara joined Professional Medical Specialties, Inc. as a Supervisor of the Review Department, where they provided direct supervision to nurses and coordinated with other departments and clients. In 2000, they became a Nurse Case Manager at Zurich Insurance Services, where they independently managed assigned cases and collaborated with claims adjusters in worker's compensation. From 2002 to 2005, Barbara worked as a Nurse Case Manager at CareSys/MCMC, focusing on providing case management services for BNSF and Amtrak railroads. Finally, since 2005, Barbara has been with Managed Care Advisors, serving as the Vice President of Case Management. In this role, they oversee a national team of nurse case managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and compliance with federal regulations in the workers' compensation sector.
Barbara DeGray, RN-BC, CRRN completed their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Psychology from Georgetown University, where they attended from 1971 to 1975. Barbara later pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Care Administration from the University of Miami Herbert Business School, completing it from 1985 to 1988.
In terms of certifications, Barbara became a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) in 1992. In 1994, they obtained a Certificate in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. Furthermore, Barbara became a Certified Provider of the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) in 2009. Lastly, they achieved the Board Certified Case Manager credential from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in May 2011.
