Alex Soloway has diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Their most recent position was as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Manifold starting in August 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where they served as a Data Engineer 2 from April 2020 to July 2022. In this role, they developed a custom deep learning network for computer vision and created a data pipeline on AWS and Databricks for cyber security data processing.
Before joining the industry, Alex completed a Data Engineering Fellowship at Insight Data Science from September 2019 to April 2020. Alex also worked as a Research Scientist at the University of Washington College of Engineering from August 2018 to June 2019 and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington from August 2012 to June 2018.
Alex also gained experience outside the field of data engineering through roles such as an Acoustics and Vibration Specialist at Valcoustics Canada Ltd. from June 2011 to July 2012 and Mechanical Engineering Internships at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (June 2010 to August 2010) and Earthtech (May 2008 to August 2008). In these positions, they worked on projects related to modernization, energy efficiency, and life cycle cost analysis.
Alex Soloway has a strong educational background in mechanical engineering. From 2006 to 2011, they attended McGill University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Washington. From 2012 to 2014, they obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on underwater acoustics. Finally, from 2014 to 2018, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington.
