Jim Hopper

Jim Hopper serves as a Teaching Associate in Psychology at Harvard Medical School since January 2006, focusing on psychological trauma and the neuroscience of addiction while consulting for the Outpatient Addictions Service of the Cambridge Health Alliance. In addition to their role as a Teaching Associate, Jim holds a position as an Instructor in Psychology, where research pertains to reward circuitry in PTSD and the psychopharmacology of self-medication with marijuana. Since September 2016, Jim has also contributed to the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) as a Therapist and Sub-Investigator for FDA-approved MDMA-Assisted Therapy trials for PTSD. With experience as a Forensic Consultant since January 2000, assessments have centered on psychological trauma, particularly in capital cases involving child abuse. Jim has played a pivotal role in various initiatives, including serving on the Advisory Board of 1in6, Inc and consulting for the PATHS to Resilience Project. Educational credentials include a PhD in Clinical Psychology from UMass Boston and a BA in History from the University of Rochester.
