Igor Babaev

Igor Babaev is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in database optimization. Currently serving as Principal Engineer at MariaDB Corporation since October 2013, Igor has focused on optimizer improvements of the MariaDB server while providing advisory and review services for related projects. Prior to this role, Igor worked as Principal Developer at MariaDB Services, Inc. from July 2009 to October 2013, and held key engineering positions at Sun Microsystems and MySQL Inc., where leadership and expertise in optimizer enhancements were demonstrated. Igor began a career in software development at Raima Corporation and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Saint Petersburg State University.
