Jim Spangler

Jim Spangler is an accomplished communications leader with extensive experience in corporate communications and public relations. Currently serving as Chief Communications Officer at Markel since January 2020, Jim previously held senior roles at APCO Worldwide and Navistar Inc., where responsibilities included corporate affairs and government relations. With a strong background in strategic communications, Jim also led global communications at Tenneco Inc. and held key positions at Arthur Andersen and Amoco Corporation. Jim’s career began in public relations with GolinHarris and City News Bureau of Chicago. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Media Studies.
