Dr. Ulf Spessert

Dr. Ulf Spessert has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Dr. Ulf is currently working as the CFO at Markel Insurance SE since January 2022. Before that, they served as an External Lecturer on Taxes at TH Köln from September 2021 onwards. Prior to this, Dr. Spessert held multiple roles at AXA XL, a division of AXA. Dr. Ulf was the Chief Operating Officer for Germany from May 2020 to December 2021, and earlier, they served as the Head of Finance, Financial Reporting & Accounting for Germany and Deputy Head of European Controllership from April 2017 to April 2020. Before joining AXA XL, they worked at XL Catlin as Head of Insurance - Finance EMEA from May 2015 to March 2017 and as the Head of Finance from August 2013 to May 2015. Additionally, Dr. Spessert also worked as an External Lecturer at Fachhochschule Jena from June 2007 to June 2015. Dr. Ulf started their career at Deloitte as a Senior Auditor and worked there as a Senior (Prüfungsleiter) from November 2006 to July 2013. Lastly, they were a Research Assistant at Bergische Universität Wuppertal from September 2007 to September 2011, in collaboration with Deloitte.

Dr. Ulf Spessert has a strong education background in the field of business and economics. Dr. Ulf obtained their Bachelor's degree, a Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH), from Fachhochschule Jena in 2006. Following that, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Bergische Universität Wuppertal, completing it in 2008.

In 2013, Dr. Spessert earned the certification of Steuerberater from Steuerberaterkammer NRW. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) in Versicherungswesen from Cologne University of Applied Sciences, which they completed in 2016.

In 2019, Dr. Spessert achieved their highest academic accomplishment, a Doktor degree in Wirtschaftswissenschaften from Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
