Michael Wood

Chief of Carrier Strategy and Business Development at MarketSpark

Michael Wood has a strong background in sales and business development, with a focus on the telecommunications industry. Michael started their career at Verizon Wireless in 2006, where they held various roles including Business Sales Representative, Major Accounts Manager, and Business Sales Manager.

In 2008, Wood joined Verizon as an Associate Director of Strategic Accounts, where they were responsible for managing key client relationships. Michael later became the Associate Director of IOT Sales and Partnerships in the Midwest Area and then transitioned to the role of Director of B2B Marketing and Operations for the Midwest Area. In this position, they oversaw sales, operations, and marketing for the B2B channel and managed a customer base that generated over $2 billion in annual revenue.

Wood then became the Director of Business Sales for the SMB and Mid Market segment, leading a team of over 200 sales professionals and 8 sales leaders. Michael was responsible for driving customer acquisition, revenue growth, and employee development. Additionally, they served as the Director of Sales for the Public Sector in the SLED-Midwest region, where they managed a sales organization focused on government accounts.

In 2020, Wood joined Verizon Business as the Director of Mobile Solution Sales, where they led a team of 100 sales professionals and 8 sales leaders. Michael focused on driving subscribers and revenue growth in low share and whitespace accounts. Later that year, they became the Director of Enterprise Sales, leading a team of 50 sales professionals and 7 sales leaders. In this role, they focused on increasing customer engagement and building relationships with target account stakeholders.

Currently, Wood holds the position of Chief of Carrier Strategy and Business Development at MarketSpark, Inc., starting in 2023.

Michael Wood attended The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business from 2000 to 2005. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in Marketing. Michael also obtained a second BSBA degree, this time specializing in Economics.
