Bret Hubbard

Bret Hubbard is a highly experienced software engineer with a diverse background in various roles. Bret started their career in 2014 at Quomation Insurance Services, where they served as a Software Developer and Team Lead. In this role, they managed a team of developers and worked with insurance carrier web services, utilizing languages such as C#, Visual Basic .NET, T-SQL, and Visual Basic 6.

In 2016, Bret joined Landmark Home Warranty as a Software Engineer. Here, they developed responsive single-page applications using React, Redux, and .NET Core. Additionally, they worked on Sales CRM projects, using Angular and GraphQL.

In 2017, Bret transitioned to Pluralsight, where they held multiple roles. Bret started as a Software Crafter, serving as a Tech Lead and collaborating with a product manager and product designer to set team objectives. Bret also engaged with customers to understand their needs. Bret then moved up to the role of Principal Software Engineer, providing training and mentoring to other engineers and working on platform-level solutions to increase developer productivity, such as a developer portal and shared libraries. Lastly, they served as the Director of Platform Engineering, leading the Authorization team and envisioning a developer portal to enhance engineer productivity. Bret built trust among team members through regular one-on-ones, transparency, accountability, and team autonomy.

Most recently, Bret joined Marq in 2023 as a Staff Software Engineer.

Throughout their career, Bret has demonstrated strong technical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Bret Hubbard obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Weber State University, where they studied from 2011 to 2015.
