Ali Akhtar, MD has a diverse work experience in the field of medicine. Ali started their career as an Internal Medicine/Primary care Physician at Primacare in 2002. Ali then went on to work as a Director and Hospital Medicine/Core Faculty Internal Medicine Residency Program at Memorial Hospital of RI from 2003 to 2010. In 2016, Dr. Akhtar became a Hospital Medicine (Academic)/Core Faculty Internal Medicine Residency Program physician at Roger Williams Medical Center. Ali then took on additional responsibilities as the Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2019.
In 2018, they also joined Marquis Health Consulting Services as the Medical Director at Elmhurst Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and as the Sub-acute Medical Director at Lincolnwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Ali continued to work as a Post-acute Medicine physician at Marquis Health Consulting Services.
Ali Akhtar, MD completed their Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan in 1995. Ali then pursued further education in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Boston University School of Medicine. In 2001, they obtained their Doctor of Medicine certification from the Rhode Island Department of Health. Additionally, they obtained certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in the same year.
