Rakesh Patel has a diverse work experience. Rakesh is currently serving as the Chief Medical Physicist at Maryland Oncology Hematology since 2021. Prior to this, they were associated with Loyola University Medical Center from 2017 to 2021, where they held the positions of Assistant Professor and Medical Physicist. From 2013 to 2015, Rakesh worked as a Research Associate at Loyola University Medical Center. Rakesh began their career as a Student Researcher at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2005. Rakesh's early experience also includes an internship at Yale University in 2010 and serving as a Graduate Researcher at the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 2010 to 2013, where they worked on validating optical imaging techniques for breast cancer detection.
Rakesh Patel has a strong education background in biomedical engineering and biotechnology. Rakesh obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Physics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California from 2007 to 2008. Rakesh completed their undergraduate studies at Boston University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical Engineering from 2003 to 2007. Additionally, they have obtained certification in ABR Therapeutic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology in 2018.
