Edna Johnston is an experienced educator specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf education. Johnston has served as an ASL Specialist and High School Teacher at the Maryland School for the Deaf since May 2005, transitioning to teaching ASL after eight years of English instruction. In higher education, Johnston held adjunct faculty positions at Towson University, Gallaudet University, Catonsville College of Baltimore County, McDaniel College, and Frederick Community College, teaching various ASL courses and workshops from 2006 to 2023. Johnston began as adjunct faculty and advanced to tenured faculty and lead teacher at Columbia College Chicago from 1993 to 2005. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature and a Bachelor of Science in ASL Studies from Gallaudet University, as well as a Master of Education in Deaf Education from McDaniel College and coursework in Administration and Supervision at Gallaudet University.
