Roger C. Sumner

Roger C. Sumner is a highly experienced Senior Clinical Engineer at Mass General Brigham since January 2021, specializing in Laser Systems for experimental Dermatology and currently developing a system for burn victims. Previously, Sumner served as a Museum Teacher at the Tsongas Industrial History Center, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and held various engineering roles, including Principal Optical Systems Engineer at Rudolph Technologies and Senior Optical Engineer at Optos. With an extensive background in optical engineering and academia, Sumner has contributed to the design and development of numerous optical systems and has strong ties within the industry. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Imaging Science and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as an Associate's degree in Engineering Science with a focus on Optical Engineering Technology from Monroe Community College.
