Julie Callahan Shields

Julie Callahan Shields is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in litigation. Currently serving as Lead Counsel for Litigation at MassMutual since September 2019, Julie previously held the position of Managing Director and Litigation Counsel at State Street from 2009 to 2017. Earlier in Julie's career, valuable experience was gained as an Associate at Nixon Peabody LLP from 2002 to 2004 and as a Judicial Clerk for the U.S. District Court in Minnesota from 2000 to 2002. The journey began as a Social Worker for the MA Department of Children and Families from 1995 to 1997, followed by a role as a Teacher with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps from 1993 to 1995. Julie holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Georgetown University Law Center (1997-2000) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Johns Hopkins University (1989-1993).
