Principal Marketing Analyst at Mathworks

Jirong Wang has over 30 years of work experience in various roles related to data analytics and marketing. Jirong started their career as an Instructor in the Department of Mathematics at Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1987. After that, they worked as a Statistical Data Analyst at Performance Friction, where they applied regression models to improve the performance of car brake pads.

In 2000, Jirong transitioned into web development and worked as a Web Developer at Blue Sun Multimedia, where they designed and implemented websites using ASP, JavaScript, VBScript, and SQL Server. Jirong then joined Prevision Marketing as a SAS Programmer/Analyst, analyzing customer transactional data for campaign audience selection and response matching.

Jirong's next role was at Fortelligent/KBM Group, where they worked as a Senior Marketing Analyst. Jirong designed and implemented billing Key Metrics analytics and conducted analyses to increase sales of ringtones and messaging features. Additionally, they identified system issues that resulted in millions of subscribers losing messaging feature codes and helped generate over $20 million in revenue by rectifying the issue.

From 2012 to 2018, Jirong worked at Wunderman as the Associate Director of Analytics. Jirong led an analytic team to support the analytic needs of AT&T Mobility Marketing group, providing data analytics, data mining, statistical modeling, and data warehousing. Jirong also worked with different business units to maximize profitability, provided consumer product management and business intelligence, and led the development and maintenance of an analytic database called MKTProDB.

Before joining their current position as the Principal Marketing Analyst at MathWorks in 2018, Jirong briefly worked as the Director of Analytics at Wunderman Data Management. Overall, Jirong has a wealth of experience in data analytics, marketing, statistical analysis, and web development.

Jirong Wang obtained a Master of Science degree in Statistics from Utah State University between 1995 and 1997. Prior to this, between 1984 and 1987, they earned another Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Lanzhou University.
