John Rousseau

Vice President of Operations at Matternet

John Rousseau has had a long and varied career in the aviation industry, beginning with their role as an Operational Carrier Pilot with the UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY in 1995. John then moved to NAVAIR in 2000, where they held the roles of Technical Program Manager and Experimental Test Pilot. In 2009, they became Commanding Officer and Chief Test Pilot of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 30 (VX-30). In 2012, they were appointed Wing Commander of Naval Test Wing Pacific (NTWP). In 2015, they took on the role of Executive Director Of Operations for NAVAIR. In 2019, they became Head of Aviation Operations and Safety Manager for Loon. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed Vice President of Operations and Director of Safety for Matternet Inc.

John Rousseau completed their Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1992. John then obtained their Commercial Pilot - Single Engine certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1995. In 2001, they completed their Engineering Test Pilot program at the United States Naval Test Pilot School. John then went on to earn their Master of Science in Aviation Systems from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2005, and also obtained their DAWIA Program Management - Level 3 and DAWIA Test and Evaluation - Level 3 certifications from the Director, Acquisition Career Management (DACM) in 2004 and 2005, respectively. In 2018, they obtained their Airline Transport Pilot - Multiengine and Certified Flight Instructor - SE, ME, Instrument certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration. Finally, they completed their Executive Education program at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 2017.
