Ryan Nurnberger has over 17 years of work experience. Ryan started their career in 2004 as a Senior Aeronautical Engineer I at L-3 Communications. In 2008, they joined Southwest Airlines as a Lead Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP) Analyst, Assistant Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP) Manager and Senior Flight Data Analysis Program (FDAP) Analyst. In 2013, they moved to United Airlines as a Senior Engineer New Market Analysis and Senior Analyst Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA). In 2017, they took on the role of Manager of Safety Data and Analytics at Transdev North America. In 2020, they worked as a Safety Data Analytics Specialist at James Hardie Building Products and as an Aerial Photographer while self-employed. Currently, they are a Senior Safety Data Engineer at Matternet Inc., utilizing a full stack of Python/Postgres/Tableau to build data pipelines and expose business intelligence to Matternet employees. Ryan also built a flight data monitoring program utilizing M2 aircraft flight logs, telemetry feeds, and other cloud-based metadata.

Ryan Nurnberger obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 1998 and 2002. Ryan then went on to earn a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2002 and 2003. In 2008, they obtained a Certificate in Aviation Safety and Security from the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. Ryan completed this program in 2011. In 2017, they obtained a Fundamentals of GIS Certificate from Coursera Course Certificates.
