Gary Grimes

Gary Grimes has over 40 years of experience in the wireless industry. Gary began their career in 1980 as an RF Design Engineer at Hughes Space and Communications, where they successfully redesigned a space-based X Band radio front end and completed the automated test bed for the LEASAT RF communications platform, as well as designed and implemented an X band predistorter for space-based TWTAs that increased the traffic capacity by 2. In 1985, they joined Eaton Corporation as an Application Engineer and developed the company seminar on RF Noise measurement, which they presented globally. Gary also designed and built the Semi-Automated RF Noise Calibration System, which was still being sold 10 years later. In 1986, they joined Ortel Corporation as a Product Line Manager and developed commercial/military satellite earth station fiber optic product line and fiber optic delay line for ground-based and airborne radar calibration. Both product lines reached and still maintain $10M in annual revenue and continue to be sold by Ortel (now Emcore) today. In 2001, they founded and served as President of Gwydion LLC, where they developed fiber optic-based products for enhancing indoor coverage for wireless networks. Gary then sold Gwydion to Repeater Technologies and held position as Vice President (1999-2001) to direct its Southern CA operations. In 2003, they joined Harbor Telecom Consulting as a Business Development Consultant, providing business development consulting services to clients in the wireless industry, including Xirrus, Inc., Connectivity Wireless, Powerwave Technologies, and Avitec AB. Gary was successful in penetrating the cellular market for Xirrus by establishing Sprint approval and internal Sprint champions for the company’s Wi-Fi coverage products. From 2008 to 2014, they held the position of VP North American Business Development at Zinwave, where they transformed the company from an unknown supplier in the U.S. to full product approval by Tier 1 carriers and in U.S. markets. In 2021, they joined Maven Wireless as the Vice President of Americas.

Gary Grimes obtained a BS (Cum Laude) in Physics & Astronomy from the University of Arizona between 1971 and 1974. Gary then went on to obtain an MS in Physics from the University of Maryland between 1974 and 1977. Finally, they obtained a BSEE (Magna Cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland between 1978 and 1980. In 2021, Gary also obtained a ZoomInfo Certification for Sales from ZoomInfo.
