Juan C. Sanchez-Delbarrio

Juan C. Sanchez-DelBarrio has extensive work experience in various roles within the IT industry. Juan C. currently serves as Deputy IT Director at MAPFRE, a position they have held since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked at MAPFRE ASSISTANCE for six years, where they held roles such as CTO and IT Account Manager APAC. Juan C. also served as the IT Manager of China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan during their time at MAPFRE ASSISTANCE.

Before joining MAPFRE ASSISTANCE, Juan worked as a freelance IT Project Management Consultant and Senior Software Engineer at Universitat de Barcelona, where they contributed to the development and research of the new DnaSP 6.0 using Microsoft VB.net. Juan C. also held the position of Regional CTO APAC at MAPFRE from 2016 to 2019.

Prior to their involvement with MAPFRE, Juan served as the CTO and R&D Manager at IBB I&C Technology Co. Ltd., where they researched and developed IT solutions for small and medium companies using GNU/Linux and open source software.

Juan's earlier work experience includes roles as a Senior Software Engineer at Sovereign Prime, an IT Security Officer at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), and as a Visiting Engineer at Shanghai Supercomputer Centre. Juan C. also worked as a Linux Area Manager at Maxima OKE and as a Security Trainer at Grupo S21Sec Gestion, S.A., where they were responsible for security training and course design.

Throughout their career, Juan has gained expertise in IT management, project management, software development, and IT security.

Juan C. Sanchez-DelBarrio has a diverse and extensive education history. Juan C. holds a Master's Degree in East Asian studies, with a focus on the history, society, politics, culture, and economics of Asian countries, from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Juan C. also obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, specializing in bioinformatics, security, operating systems, and networking. Juan pursued further studies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where they completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Computer Science and Digital Communication, with a focus on security. Additionally, they have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, with a specialization in operating systems and security. Juan's most recent educational endeavor was at the Shanghai International College of Culture, where they studied Chinese Studies. In terms of certifications, Juan has completed various courses and training programs, including PMP® Certification Training Course from Simplilearn, Zentyal Certified Associate (ZeCA) from Zentyal, ISO 17799 Information Security Management System Implementation from BSI, and OPST/OPSA Trainer (OSSTMM 3.0) from ISECOM.
