Patrick Finnegan is a Partner in MKCI’s Philadelphia, PA office and has over 26 years of experience in the defense of civil litigation. He has defended many types of cases, including but not limited to claims involving consumer products liability, toxic tort litigation, complex litigation, class actions, pharmaceutical litigation, general liability, and insurance coverage. Patrick’s practice also includes the representation of financial institutions concentrating in the areas of debt recovery and bankruptcy matters.
Patrick has served as National Coordinating Counsel for several manufacturers in the fluid sealing and phenolic resin industries. The products manufactured by these defendants have been extensively utilized in every sector of the residential, commercial and industrial market for mechanical service devices. As National Coordinating Counsel, Patrick has coordinated the defense of clients in California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Florida, Texas, Michigan, Mississippi and West Virginia. On a local level, Patrick oversees all aspects of litigation for a diverse group of clients involved in the Philadelphia asbestos litigation including development of liability and causation defenses as well as settlement negotiations.
Since 1998, Patrick has served on the Board of Directors of the Viriva Community Credit Union, a Pennsylvania chartered credit union which services a five county region and maintains over $80 million in assets. Patrick has served as Chairman of the Policy Review Committee for Viriva, responsible for the overview of all Credit Union policies governing personnel performance, loans/lending, asset management, property management, security service marketing and disaster recovery. In addition to his affiliation with Viriva Community Credit Union, Patrick has assisted other credit union clients in developing strategy and policies for debt recovery programs and compliance with protocols for bankruptcy litigation procedure.
When not engaged in legal pursuits, Patrick is involved with the support of local charities, community and environmental groups. He is an avid outdoorsman where he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Patrick is passionate about the environment and does his part by practicing small-scale, sustainable farming and he has been a beekeeper for over a decade.
Patrick obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Widener University School of Law. During the course of his education at Widener, he served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Francis A. Biunno, in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia, in the Criminal Court system. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from LaSalle University and studied International Law at the Universite de Fribourg, Switzerland.
