Barb Townsend CPB, CPC, CRCR, FHFMA has a comprehensive work experience in revenue cycle management spanning several healthcare organizations. Barb currently holds the position of Regional Director of Revenue Cycle at McLaren Health Care since 2021. Prior to that, Barb served as the Director of Operations at Steward Health Care from 2018 to 2021, where they developed and implemented strategic initiatives to improve AR collections, denial management, and contract management. Barb also worked as a Project Manager for Steward Health Care in 2018, leading the rollout of the Meditech 6.1 Implementation. From 2015 to 2018, Barb held various roles as Director of Operations at IASIS Healthcare, and before that, they served as the Director of Revenue Cycle at LifePoint Health® for over two decades. Throughout their career, Barb has demonstrated expertise in revenue cycle optimization, implementing internal controls, reducing denials, and driving financial performance improvements.

Barb Townsend CPB, CPC, CRCR, FHFMA graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Finance and Financial Management Services. Barb obtained additional certifications throughout their career, including Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC in 2014 and 2013 respectively. In 2011, Barb obtained HFMA's Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification, and in 1995 they became a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).
