Tommy Jacobson joined MCNC in 1993 as a student intern the summer prior to his senior year at North Carolina State University. During his tenure he has held progressively advancing roles in the development and management of operations and engineering parts of the organization. Tommy presided over the NCREN fiber expansion project funded by the NTIA’s Broadband Technologies Opportunity Program between 2009-2013, which serves as the foundation for all of NCREN’s optical and IP service delivery platforms today. Tommy currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for MCNC, providing oversight over all NCREN network service delivery, Community support, data center, video service, and Client Network Engineering teams while working with the senior leadership team to advance MCNC to the next level.
Tommy graduated from North Carolina State University in 1994 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Residing in Burlington, NC, he is married to his high school sweetheart Pam, and the proud father to Alyssa and Evan whose activities encompass much of his free time.
