Stephen Owens is the current Secretary at McWane Science Center. Stephen has also previously served as President of Birmingham ATD from December 2013 to December 2014. In this role, Stephen led a volunteer team responsible for membership involvement, recruiting speakers, planning events, finance, technology, coordinating logistics, creating PR campaigns, creating workshops, promoting the chapter, and other various tasks.
Prior to their work with Birmingham ATD, Stephen worked as a National Account Manager for Pella Corporation from January 2003 to September 2011. In this role, they were responsible for developing relationships with key customers and managing all aspects of customer service.
From September 2011 to November 2012, Stephen worked as a Leadership & Management Development Specialist with the Personnel Board of Jefferson County. In this role, they designed and delivered leadership and management classes as well as sourced and developed programs focused on skills needed for leaders to be successful.
Stephen Owens began their educational career by obtaining a business administration and criminal justice degree from The University of Alabama. Stephen then went on to get their MBA in human resources and leadership from Samford University. Finally, they obtained certification from Hogan Assessment Systems in Hogan Assessments.
