Robert Smart

Robert Smart has a diverse work experience in the fields of engineering, software development, and GIS (Geographic Information System). Robert is currently the Head of Engineering at measurable.energy, starting in November 2022. Previously, Robert worked at SRS Works Ltd from 2019 to 2022, where they held roles as the Head of Engineering and Development, responsible for managing R&D projects and leading a team of engineers, as well as the Head of Software Development, focusing on firmware and backend systems development.

Before that, Robert worked at Meta Cannect Ltd from 2015 to 2019 as a Software Consultant, collaborating with the British Transport Police on innovative mobile and web-based solutions. Robert also has experience as a Freelance GIS Consultant/Developer at GIS-Smart from 2012 to 2015, where they worked with clients to optimize data usage using open source software.

In addition, Robert worked as a Software Development Engineer at CNL Software from 2013 to 2015 and as a GIS Developer at GIS4Business Ltd from 2006 to 2012. Robert also had roles at Severn Trent Plc as a GIS developer contractor in 2007 and at Thames Water as a GIS Team Leader from 2005 to 2007, where they developed automated processes and managed a team.

Robert's early career involved working as a GIS technician at Faber Maunsel from 2002 to 2004, where they contributed to projects for Network Rail, Anglian Water, and Thames Water.

Robert Smart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Hertfordshire, where they studied geology and earth science from 1997 to 2000. Robert then pursued a Master of Science degree in Geographical Information Management with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing at Cranfield University from 2001 to 2002.
