Maria Fernandes

Maria Gomes Fernandes, PhD, currently serves as the Head of Cell&Tissue Sciences at Meatable since May 2019, where prior roles included Team Lead for Cell Line Development and Senior iPSC Scientist. Before joining Meatable, Maria conducted research at Leiden University Medical Center's Central Laboratory Animal Facility from July 2017 to May 2019 and served as a PhD Candidate in the Dept of Anatomy and Embryology from February 2012 to June 2016. Earlier academic experiences include internships at Leiden University Medical Center and Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa, focusing on genetic research projects. Maria holds a Ph.D. in Stem Cell and Molecular Cardiovascular Developmental Biology from Leiden University and has a Master's degree in Biologia Evolutiva e do Desenvolvimento from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, along with a Bachelor's degree in Genetics and Biotechnology from Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
