Surya Gentha Akmal

Surya Gentha Akmal is a Senior Researcher at the Indonesian Center for Research on Bioinvasions since June 2023 and Co-Founder at The Sulawesi Keepers since 2021. Additionally, Surya is a Researcher at the Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies (CCMRS) at IPB University since September 2020 and previously served as a Scientific Researcher at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague until June 2023. Research interests focus on aquatic invasive species and their impacts on native biota in Indonesia, including the ecology of crustaceans, particularly crayfish. Prior experience includes various research roles at IPB University from 2012 to 2020, addressing topics such as resource vulnerability analysis, GIS for fisheries mapping, and the effects of disasters on fisheries. Surya holds a PhD in Applied Zoology from Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, a Master's degree in Coastal and Marine Resources Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Aquatic Resources Management, both from IPB University.
