Stephen Combs

Stephen Combs currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Medical Society of Virginia as of October 2023. Since February 2018, Stephen has held the position of Chief Medical Officer at Ballad Health. Additionally, Stephen has been the Medical Director at Highlands Wellmont Health Network since April 2012, overseeing key functions such as Case Management and Disease Management. With a long-standing association with Wellmont Health System since 1999, Stephen's roles have included Pediatric Physician, Chief Executive Medical Officer, and Senior Vice President for Physician and Clinical Integration, managing quality initiatives for a substantial provider group. Previous experience includes serving as Chief Executive Medical Officer and Pediatric Intensive Care Medical Director at Mountain Region Pediatrics from July 1995 to December 1998. Stephen Combs's educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine from East Tennessee State University, Pediatrics residency at Duke University, and several business-focused certifications from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
