Sandra I Grijalva

Sandra I Grijalva, Ph.D., is a Senior Associate in Biomechanics at Exponent since January 2020. Prior to this role, Sandra served as a Biomedical Engineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2014 to September 2019, where a thesis project focused on engineering cardiac biological pacemaker tissues and developing a custom optical mapping system. Sandra's experience also includes a summer research internship at TGen, where a specific microRNA's effect on diabetic nephropathy was investigated, and a research assistantship at Stanford University, focusing on gene expression using RNA-sequencing. Sandra's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from both Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
