Bruce Gertz

Bruce Gertz is a prominent jazz bassist and professor at Berklee College of Music, with extensive experience in music education and publishing. As the leader of the Bruce Gertz Quintet since 1982, Bruce has produced several award-winning CDs. In addition to leading the quintet, Bruce founded Openmind Jazz, a record company that has released notable albums featuring renowned musicians. An accomplished author, Bruce has published multiple educational works, including "Let's Play Rhythm" and the "Mastering the Bass" series. Bruce's contributions to music extend to composing over 200 works and recording on more than 30 projects. Bruce's education includes studies in jazz improvisation and composition, with mentorship under Charlie Banacos and degrees from Berklee College of Music and New England College.
