John Pickering

John Pickering is an experienced professional with a diverse background in law, music, and education. Since January 2014, John has served as an Adjunct Instructor in Criminal Justice Studies and Constitutional Law at the Law Enforcement Academy at Arapahoe Community College. Prior to that, John held the position of Chief Deputy District Attorney at the Boulder District Attorney's Office from 1984 to 2007, where responsibilities included supervising felony prosecutions and mentoring new attorneys. As a prolific author, John has written four best-selling college-level percussion instruction books, widely used in music curricula across major U.S. universities. Additionally, John's extensive performance experience as a freelance sideman includes recording at CBS Television City, leading tours in the Caribbean, and playing in various jazz and commercial settings. Educationally, John holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver School of Law and a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of Miami.
