Mary Boylen Wichansky has a range of work experience across various organizations. Mary currently works as the Director of the National Center for Adoption Competent Mental Health Services at the Center for Adoption Support and Education since 2023. Prior to this, they were the Chief Program Officer at the Mental Health Association of Maryland, where they led strategic organizational growth initiatives and program development. From 2016 to 2020, they held roles at CASE, including Director of Program Operations and National Implementation Consultant for the National Adoption Competency Training Initiative. Before that, they were the Program Director for Mental Health First Aid, USA at the National Council for Behavioral Health. Mary also has experience as a director at Adventist HealthCare, a program manager at Montgomery County Health and Human Services, and a consultant at their own company, Mary B. Wichansky, LLC. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Clinical Director at Family Services of Northern Virginia and as a clinician at Northern Virginia Family Service. Mary began their career as a Research Associate at Healthy Companies International.
Mary Boylen Wichansky received their Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from American University in 1986. Mary then pursued a Master of Social Work degree with a focus on Mental Health from Virginia Commonwealth University, completing their studies in 1991. In 2010, Mary obtained a Certificate in Leadership in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Mary also holds additional certifications, including being a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and a Social Work Clinical Supervisor certified by the Maryland Board of Social Work. Mary has also completed post-graduate training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at Georgetown University.
