Charis Sfyrakis

Charis Sfyrakis has extensive experience in the field of data science. They began their career in 2011 as a High Performance Computing Consultant for Excelian. In 2012, they moved to BNP Paribas as a Technical Consultant, where they worked with Grid and Data Caching Engineering. In 2013, they became a Data Scientist for Sandtable Ltd, where they worked with data-driven agent based modelling and machine learning to enrich agents profiles. From 2014 to 2017, they worked at Barclays as a Vice President, Sr. Data Scientist in Advanced Data Analytics, where they conceptualized, led and implemented models using behavioural, financial and other data on python, as well as a Spark application that categorised transactions in sub-linear time complexity. In 2017, they also took on a role as Non Executive Director for Mentionlytics. In 2018, they became a Cohort Member for Entrepreneur First, and in 2019 they became the Chief Scientific Officer for Chosen. In 2020, they became the CEO of Algomo, and also joined NatWest as part of their Fintech Accelerator Program Cohort.

Charis Sfyrakis has a varied educational background. In 2009-2010, they completed an MSc (Hons, 1st class) in Artificial Intelligence at The University of Edinburgh. From 2002-2008, they earned a Master of Engineering - MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras. In 2006, they spent time at RWTH Aachen University, enjoying an Erasmus exchange. In 2001-2002, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Technical University of Athens. Additionally, Charis has obtained several certifications, including a Level 3 certification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in 2016, an Oracle Certified Professional Java SE Programmer 6 certification in 2012, a Prince 2 certification in Project Management from APMG International in 2011, a Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis from the British Computer Society in 2011, and a Barclays Digital Driving Licence.
