Chris Soley has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of technical design and management. Chris started their career as an Assistant Technical Director at Adelphi University, where they oversaw the construction of scenery for ten shows a year and instructed student workers in shop safety and proper construction techniques. Chris then worked as a Technical Director at Chautauqua Theater Company, where they drafted technical drawings and coordinated with other departments to efficiently utilize the theater space.
Chris then gained freelance experience as a Carpenter/Stagehand, working for prominent Off Broadway theaters and handling tasks such as drafting, crew management, and material ordering. Chris also served as an Assistant Technical Coordinator for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, where they drafted layout drawings for dressing rooms and stage configurations and acted as a liaison between the production company and labor union.
Chris further honed their technical design skills as a Technical Designer at The Scenic Route, where they drafted technical drawings, prototyped electrical and pneumatic effects, and supervised the build process of larger projects. Chris also worked as a Technical Designer at LA Propoint, where they specialized in technical design for commercial projects.
Chris's career then took him to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, where they served as a Technical Director and managed technical aspects of various productions. Chris then worked at Walt Disney Imagineering as a Show Systems Designer, where they continued their technical design work and contributed to the development of show systems.
Currently, Chris holds the position of Senior Technical Director at Meow Wolf, a renowned arts and entertainment company. In this role, they oversee technical aspects and brings their expertise to the development of immersive experiences.
Throughout their career, Chris has demonstrated a strong ability to handle technical design, drafting, project management, and team supervision. Chris has also exhibited versatility by working in various settings, including theater, commercial projects, and entertainment companies.
Chris Soley completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Theater from Rhode Island College between the years 2003 and 2006.
