Matthew Sumpter

Matthew Sumpter has a diverse range of work experience. Matthew currently works as a Software Engineer at Meow Wolf since 2022. Previously, they were employed at Sandia National Laboratories from 2021 to 2022, where they served as an R&D Software Developer. In this role, they led process optimization initiatives and developed backend endpoints to enhance internal systems.

Prior to that, Matthew worked at the University of South Florida from 2019 to 2021 as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant. Matthew played a key role in driving research and development, mentoring undergraduate students, and publishing technical papers.

In 2019, Matthew also had a Data Science Internship at SOFWERX, where they managed projects, secured additional funding, and delivered technical requirements.

Earlier in their career, Matthew worked as a Field Technician at Wildlands Conservation from 2017 to 2019 and as an Outdoor Educator at Insight Adventures China from 2016 to 2017. Matthew gained experience leading groups, conducting community service programs, and facilitating outdoor activities.

Matthew started their professional journey as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Molecular Biophysics from 2011 to 2013.

Afterwards, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from the University of South Florida, which they completed from 2019 to 2021.
