Michael Bylsma

Michael Bylsma has extensive experience in educational leadership, specializing in special education. Currently serving as the Director of Special Education - School-based Services at Seattle Public Schools since July 2017, Michael has held multiple roles including Interim Director and Special Education Supervisor. Simultaneously, Michael is the Assistant Director of Special Education at Mercer Island School District, responsible for program development, oversight, and professional development across the district. Previous positions include Assistant Principal at Northshore School District and Program Coordinator and Teacher at Mercer Island School District. Michael's educational background includes a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Seattle Pacific University, a Teaching Certification from Notre Dame de Namur University, and two Master's degrees in English and Comparative Literature from San Jose State University.
