Dr. David Scott Davis was appointed Mercer University Provost in January 2012. During his tenure as the University’s chief academic officer, Mercer has been admitted to the Georgia Research Alliance and has been awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Externally funded research has grown by more than 20 percent, the number of students pursuing Ph.D. degrees has grown from 33 to more than 250, and the University established an academic health sciences center and its 12th academic unit, the College of Health Professions, since 2012. Enrollment in Mercer’s graduate and professional programs has increased by more than 40 percent, from 2,840 to almost 4,000, while undergraduate enrollment on the Macon campus has increased by 38 percent.
