Mark R. Nelson (Ph.D., MBA, CAE) is MAC's first Executive Director. With a focus on mission-driven organizations, Mark brings broad experience and deep knowledge of association management to his work, with specialized expertise in evolving governance and how organizations adapt and respond to large-scale change driven by technology. Mark presented as an invited speaker on "Education, Equity, and the Future of the Global Workforce" at the inaugural AI for Good Summit hosted by the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. He also led prior organizations to earn awards for innovation or excellence, including a silver Power of A Award in 2017 for the "Big IDEA" initiative in K-12 CS education where the award citation recognized his association's "extraordinary contributions and efforts to enrich lives, create a more competitive workforce, drive innovation, and make a better world." Mark is currently chair of ASAE's Innovation Grants Program, and serves on other ASAE committees.
