James Russell

Jim Russell joined Merchants in January 2018 and serves as Senior Vice President, Bridge Portfolio Management. Jim began his banking career in 1993 in Indianapolis and has held various credit underwriting and portfolio management roles throughout that time. Jim’s focus has been Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management since 2003. Jim’s team of Portfolio Managers monitors the composition and health of stabilized/stabilizing bridge loans, until such loans are permanently placed—primarily through FHA/HUD, Fannie Mae, or Freddie Mac permanent lending products.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Business Economics/Public Policy from Indiana University, and his MBA with a concentration in Finance from Butler University. He is also a member of the IU Real Estate Alumni Group in Indianapolis.
