Bryan Sutherland

Senior Scientist at Merck

Bryan Sutherland is a Senior Scientist at Merck, focusing on physicochemical characterization, formulation development, and developability assessments for new drug candidates since September 2023. Previously, Bryan served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University, where innovative synthetic tissue culture platforms were developed to enhance vascular network formation. Bryan also held a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of Delaware, collaborating on photoresponsive hydrogels for drug delivery and tissue engineering, and contributed to the development of DNA analogues and nanomaterials during a Graduate Research Assistant role. Educationally, Bryan earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Delaware and holds dual bachelor's and master's degrees from Drexel University in the same field. Early experience includes roles as a Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences Co-op at Merck and a Process Development Co-op at Carpenter Technology Corporation.
