Charles Wolstenholme

Charles Wolstenholme currently serves as a Senior Scientist at Merck, focusing on Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development since May 2021. Prior to this role, Charles was a Doctoral Candidate at Penn State University from July 2016 to May 2021, where notable achievements included the development of a novel 8-step synthesis of fluorescent protein chromophores and the establishment of two-color imaging strategies for protein folding state differentiation. Charles also has experience as an Exploratory Biochemistry Intern at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, contributing to the synthesis and characterization of metal-organic frameworks, and as an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Boston College, working on improving catalyst solubility and synthesizing complex organic molecules. Charles holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Boston College and a PhD in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Penn State University.
