Janette Barnard

Janette Barnard is a seasoned professional in the animal health and agriculture sectors, currently serving as Director of Merck Animal Health Ventures since March 2021, where the focus is on corporate venture investments in digital products for livestock producers. Barnard also created Prime Future, a weekly newsletter for innovators in livestock, meat, and dairy. Prior roles include Managing Principal at Rock Road Consulting, where support was provided for innovation in the animal protein value chain, and Head of Commercial at DecisionNext, responsible for market strategy and commercial team development. As Founder and CEO of The Poultry Exchange, Barnard established an online marketplace for chicken meat transactions. Additional experience includes consulting for McDonald's Corporation on sustainable beef supply chains and strategic account management at Elanco. Barnard's early career highlights include coordinating public events at The White House and serving as Western Region Vice President of the National FFA Organization. Academically, Barnard holds an MBA from Texas A&M University and a BS in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona.
