Joanna Chen

Joanna Chen is a Senior Scientist at Merck, with experience beginning in January 2018. Prior to this role, Joanna served as a Scientist at the same company. From July 2015 to December 2017, Joanna worked as a Graduate Researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where contributions included the total synthesis of isotopically labeled cylindrospermopsin and the development of new methodologies for incorporating guanidine moieties into organic molecules. Additionally, Joanna held several positions at the College of the Holy Cross from August 2012 to May 2015, including Teaching Assistant, Peer Assisted Learning Leader, Undergraduate Research Assistant, and Resident Assistant. An internship at the US Environmental Protection Agency occurred in the summer of 2012, and Joanna was part of the Youth Task Force at the Harvard Prevention Research Center from July 2010 to June 2011. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross.
