Paulo Gottgtroy

Paulo Gottgtroy has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Paulo currently serves as the Head of Decision Science & Analytics at Mercury NZ, where they lead advanced analytics, commercial analytics, and data science practices across various business areas. Prior to this, Paulo worked as the Data Centre of Excellence Manager at Mercury NZ, overseeing the cross-functional Decision Science Tribe and implementing Data Governance.

Before joining Mercury NZ, Paulo held positions at Air New Zealand as a Data Science Senior Manager, where they provided insights for decision-making and strategic planning. Paulo also supervised a team of data scientists and engineers and collaborated with universities.

Paulo's experience includes serving as an Executive Council member at AI Forum NZ and working at Inland Revenue NZ as a Chief Data Scientist and Intelligence Capability/Intelligence Systems Manager. In these roles, they oversaw numerous technical and business projects, established data governance, and led a team of data professionals.

Prior to joining Inland Revenue NZ, Paulo worked as a Solutions Architect at The Simpl Group, where they oversaw enterprise architecture, CRM, Business Intelligence, and advanced analytics projects. Paulo also developed collaborations with various industries.

Paulo's career began as a Researcher and Lecturer at Auckland University of Technology, where they completed a PhD in Computer Science and published academic papers. Their research projects included bioinformatics, telecommunications, and traffic prediction models.

Before their academic career, Paulo worked as a CTO at Conceitual Ltd, overseeing major projects in data warehousing, business intelligence, and ICT infrastructure. Paulo also served as the Director of IT and Professional Education at SENAC, where they developed ICT infrastructure and educational platforms.

Paulo's early career involved serving as a CTO at X Publishing and working as a Pilot (Captain) at Nordeste Airline.

Paulo Gottgtroy completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering at Academia da Força Aérea - AFA from 1981 to 1984. Paulo then pursued Post-Graduation in Computer Science at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro from 1986 to 1988. Paulo later enrolled in Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, where they completed a Post-Graduation in Philosophy from 1995 to 1996, followed by a Master's degree in Computer Science from 1998 to 2000. Finally, they obtained their Ph.D. in Computer Science from Auckland University of Technology between 2003 and 2006.
