Zodet Negron has a range of experience in the field of communications and public relations. Zodet currently holds the position of Executive Director of Public Relations at Mercy University, where they are responsible for creating and managing an integrated Public Relations and Community Engagement program. Zodet'srole involves elevating the brand of Mercy University, increasing awareness within the community, and positively impacting public perception and enrollment. Zodet is also skilled in crisis management and media relations, working to enhance Mercy's image and reputation through interactions with the media and media training workshops.
Prior to their current role, Zodet served as the Director of Communications at the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission from 2017 to 2022. In this position, they were responsible for guiding the commission's communications strategies and facilitating effective communication with the public.
Before their role at the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, Zodet worked as the Deputy Press Secretary at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) from 2011 to 2017. Zodet successfully managed press inquiries, pitched stories tailored to specific reporters and audiences, and actively promoted the agency even during challenging times.
Zodet's work experience also includes roles as a Language Project Manager at TransPerfect Translations from 2009 to 2011, an Economy Reporter at the Puerto Rico Daily Sun from 2008 to 2009, and a Reporter at The San Juan Star from 2004 to 2008. Throughout their career, they have consistently demonstrated strong communication and journalism skills, along with an ability to adapt to diverse environments and effectively manage projects.
Zodet Negron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Translation from the University of Puerto Rico, where they attended from 1997 to 2001. Zodet then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Translation from the same university, completing their studies from 2001 to 2005.
