Zach Waechter has extensive experience in environmental project management and field services. Zach is currently the Director of Natural Resources/Senior Project Manager at Merjent, where they manage the biological staff, develops new business opportunities, and provides technical oversight to the survey staff. Prior to Merjent, they worked as a Senior Project Scientist at Cardno, specializing in environmental project management for utility companies. At Verdanterra, LLC, they served as an Environmental Scientist, conducting environmental assessments and coordinating field activities. During their time at Stantec, they worked as an Environmental Technician, conducting surveys and supervising a technician. Additionally, they gained experience as a Wetlands and Environmental Analyst Intern at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, where they assisted with wetland delineations and various environmental monitoring tasks.
Zach Waechter, PWS obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Soil and Land Management; and Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. In addition to their academic qualifications, Zach has also earned several certifications in their field. These include the Karner Blue Butterfly HCP Monitoring certification from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in August 2020, Professional Wetland Scientist certification from the Society of Wetland Scientists - Professional Certification Program in May 2018, Certified Endangered Resource Reviewer certification from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in December 2016, Wisconsin Endangered and Threatened Species Permit from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in November 2015, Natural Heritage Inventory (NHI) Training from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in July 2015, Erosion Control & Storm Water Permit Compliance certification from NASECA in December 2013, and FISTA Basic Chainsaw Safety certification from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in October 2010.
