Phil Pleiss has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of design technology, engineering, and road racing. Phil currently works at Merrick & Company as a Senior Design Technology Specialist, where they support various applications related to design technology and develops company-wide templates, workflows, and processes. Prior to this, Phil worked as a BIM Application Specialist and Senior Mechanical Facilities Designer at Merrick & Company, where they designed building systems using Revit and managed Revit templates and workflows for the Mechanical Facilities team.
In addition to their design technology roles, Phil has also been involved in the Motorcycle Roadracing Association, serving as Vice President and Rider Rep - Trophies & Class Sponsorships. Their duties included managing membership, licensing, marketing designs, and leading the migration of a membership and registration system to a new web-based application.
Before joining Merrick & Company, Phil worked as a Senior Revit Designer at Shaffer • Baucom Engineering & Consulting (SBEC). Phil also held the position of Designer II / Discipline BIM Coordinator at Merrick & Company and CAD Draftsman II at RNL.
Early in their career, Phil worked at Checkpoint Systems as an Assistant CCTV Designer and CAD Drafter, where they specialized in designing closed-circuit television, fire alarm, and burglar alarm systems for retail stores and distribution centers.
Phil Pleiss began their education at Hennepin Technical College in 2001, where they pursued an Associates degree in Mechanical Design Technology (CAD). Phil completed their studies in 2003. Afterward, Phil obtained several certifications in Autodesk software. In 2016, they became a Revit Architecture Certified Professional, Revit: Electrical Certified Professional, and Revit: Mechanical Certified Professional. Their most recent certification was obtained in March 2022, when they became an Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Mechanical Design.
