Dr. Shahram Yousefi, PhD, PEng has a diverse and extensive work experience. Dr. Shahram is currently serving as the Co-founder, President, and CEO of Mesh AI, a company dedicated to ending clinician burnout. Dr. Shahram has held this position since June 2018.
Prior to their work at Mesh AI, Dr. Yousefi was a Professor at Queen's University starting in 2003. Dr. Shahram also held various roles at the university, including Acting Department Head, Senator, Associate Head of ECE, Associate Professor, Chair of Undergraduate EE, and Assistant Professor. During their time at Queen's University, Dr. Yousefi demonstrated a commitment to growth and student success, particularly through their role as Associate Dean, Corporate Relations. Dr. Shahram achieved a 78% increase in the number of placed internships in just three years, despite the challenges posed by a global pandemic. Dr. Shahram also pioneered the creation of credit for professional experience and internships within the engineering program.
In addition to their work at Queen's University and Mesh AI, Dr. Yousefi has served as an Advisor and Mentor at Futurpreneur Canada, Dunin-Deshpande Queen's Innovation Centre, and inQUbate. Dr. Shahram has also been a Corporate Partner Rep and Reviewer at C100.
Furthermore, Dr. Yousefi co-founded Canarmony Holdings Corp. in 2014, where they served as the President and CEO. This Kingston-based Canadian company focuses on developing applications that simplify work and enhance quality of life.
Dr. Yousefi's expertise extends internationally as well. Dr. Shahram has been a Research Adjunct Professor at Jilin University in China since 2016, specifically in the China-Israel Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Within professional organizations, Dr. Yousefi has held the role of Director elect at the Canadian Society of Information Theory and a Senior Member at IEEE. Dr. Shahram has also served as an Editor for IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, contributing to advancements in the field of communications. Additionally, they held leadership positions as the Chair and Vice Chair of the IEEE Kingston Section.

Dr. Shahram Yousefi, PhD, PEng (Mesh AI) completed their education in the field of Electrical Engineering and Communications. Dr. Shahram began their academic journey at the University of Tehran from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in ECE. Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, Dr. Yousefi then joined the University of Waterloo, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. At Waterloo, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, specializing in Electrical Engineering and Communications.
