James Sotlar

James Sotlar has been an educator for 28 years, and is currently the CEO of META Solutions. Prior to their current position, Sotlar served as the Superintendent of Canal Winchester Local Schools from 2013 to 2022. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing all aspects of the district, including supervising and evaluating principals and district administrative staff, complying with state laws and Ohio Board of Education policies, working closely with the school board and treasurer to be good financial stewards of taxpayer money while maximizing programming, and overseeing sensitive legal issues such as discipline appeals, eligibility cases, and state mandates.

Sotlar is a goal-driven leader who holds a Superintendent’s License from Ohio University. James is committed to creating an environment where global learning can occur, and has a demonstrated ability to improve student performance through precise curriculum balance and data analysis. Under their leadership, the Canal Winchester Local School District has flourished, with students achieving high levels of academic success and staff members feeling supported in their work.

James Sotlar earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Ashland University. James also holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Teaching from Youngstown State University.
